A state court judge blocked Virginians from deciding whether Democrats can redraw the state’s congressional map to counter GOP gerrymanders nationwide.
Last month, the same judge voided Democrats’ redistricting session, but the state Supreme Court overruled the decision.

New York appellate court allows redraw of congressional map to move forward in win for Black and Latino voters

As a result, the state will get a new map that will likely hand Democrats one more seat in Congress.
There’s still one wildcard at play: SCOTUS. Earlier this month, a Republican congresswoman and the state election board asked the Court to block the lower court’s decision on District 11.
Voters and the state of New York filed responses today opposing that request, saying the Supreme Court shouldn’t step in yet because the state Supreme Court hasn’t even had a chance to interpret the state constitution’s vote dilution provisions.
