Convicted election denier Tina Peters was released on parole from a Colorado prison Monday — and immediately went on Steve Bannon’s podcast to baselessly claim Democrats “are going to cheat.” Also in this week’s Eye On The Right: Georgia’s MAGA-led election board hires a noted election denier to a key post, and more.

Election denier Tina Peters freed from prison, immediately tells Steve Bannon: ‘Democrats are going to cheat’

Convicted election denier Tina Peters was released on parole from a Colorado prison Monday, after Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) commuted her sentence last month — a move that drew a censure from his own state party.

Polis wrote in Peters’ commutation letter that she “demonstrate[d] taking responsibility for your crimes.” But moments after Peters left prison, the former Colorado GOP election clerk, who was convicted for her role in a 2021 voting system breach, appeared on Steve Bannon’s podcast. Let’s just say, she didn’t sound like she was taking responsibility.

  • “I see these elections that are taking place in real time: The Mamdanis, the Virginia governor, Spanberger, and then what’s going on in California and Texas and Maine — just all over the country,” Peters said. “And I know that the Democrats are going to cheat, and no one’s really addressing the problem that I spent my time in prison as retribution for, and that was exposing the election machines that allow the votes to be flipped.”

  • Now, the people who called for Peters’ release are demanding retribution against the Colorado officials who convicted her. “We need to bring accountability for what these lawfare Democrats did to Tina Peters,” conservative attorney and President Donald Trump ally Mike Davis said. “They openly went after her for her First Amendment-protected views.”

  • Meanwhile, anti-voting lawyer Cleta Mitchell organized a “telethon” to help Peters pay her legal bills and “build her life after prison.” The lineup of special guests is an all-star roster: Disgraced former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, Trump ally and attorney Peter Ticktin, Overstock.com CEO and election denier Patrick Byrne, and a guy who some conspiracy theorists think is actually a not-dead John F. Kennedy Jr.

Georgia election board hires anti-voting activist for key investigative post

Georgia’s GOP-led state election board recently hired Jason Frazier, a notorious election denier with a history of anti-voting activism, to a key post that allows him to investigate election processes across the state.

Since 2022, the board has been controlled by election deniers and MAGA loyalists who’ve been working diligently to push anti-voting policies throughout the Peach State.

  • Frazier has a long history of stoking fear around voting: After Georgia passed a law in 2024 to make it easy for citizens to challenge a voter’s eligibility, Frazier challenged nearly 10,000 voter registrations in Fulton County — and claims to have successfully challenged a whole lot more.

  • “Jason Frazier… is a proud MAGA operative whose entire goal is to undermine elections by spreading lies and conspiracy theories and harassing eligible Georgia voters with thousands of unfounded voter registration challenges,” Fulton County Commissioner Dana Barrett told Democracy Docket. “Shame on the State Elections Board for using taxpayer dollars to pay a conspiracy theorist to spew election lies and misinformation.”

  • Frazier also has close ties to Mitchell — who played a key role in Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia. And he helped develop EagleAI, a flawed mass voter roll database pushed by Mitchell’s Election Integrity Network.

  • Frazier was in the news last year when the Fulton County Board of Commissioners refused to appoint him and another election denier, Julie Adams, to the county’s board of elections. Per county rules, the local Republican Party can nominate candidates to fill two seats on the five-member board.

  • Members of the board were ultimately held in civil contempt for refusing to appoint the two Republican nominees. Adams remains on the board of elections, while the other GOP seat is still vacant.

Notes from the Twilight Zone

  • Speaking of Mitchell, she’s pissed that Martina McBride joined the chorus of performers who pulled out of the disastrous Great American State Fair celebration later this month, after it was revealed to essentially be a giant MAGA rally. “This is a celebration of America,” Mitchell responded to the country music star on X. “Not the President and not a partisan event at all. I have no use for any of you who can’t put aside your wokeness to show gratitude for the blessings of America.”

  • Filed this under: WTF? Douglas Frank, who has toured the nation making false and unfounded claims about voter fraud, went on a recent trip to South Korea with a former Trump administration official as part of a “Korea-US Election Fraud Joint Investigation Team.”

  • Here we go again: The election deniers, with an assist from Nate Silver, are already gearing up to cry fraud in California’s Tuesday primary election.
