Democrats fight back, file lawsuit to block Trump’s executive order

Democrats filed a lawsuit to block President Donald Trump’s executive order targeting mail-in voting just a day after Trump signed it. They called the order “unconstitutional” and designed to rig elections ahead of the 2026 midterms.

 

The lawsuit, brought by the Democratic National Committee, Democratic congressional leaders and the party’s campaign arms, alleges Trump’s order would “upturn the electoral playing field in his own favor and against his political rivals.”

 

The plaintiffs* are asking a judge to quickly halt enforcement of the order before it can take effect.
