In Washington, the GOP Senate leader said a SAVE ACT vote is coming — ‘I’m for it’ 

  • Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said he’s readying to bring a more aggressive version of the SAVE Act to the Senate floor. The new bill would not only require documentary proof of citizenship for voter registration, but would also mandate photo ID to vote.

  • North Carolina students sued GOP officials to restore voting sites to the U.S.’ largest historically Black university and two other campuses across the state. The removals, which came weeks before the state’s 2026 primaries, were the latest from the GOP-led state election board to restrict voting in the Tar Heel State.
