It’s on: Senate kicks off marathon SAVE America Act debate

    2026.03.17-SAVE-Act-Video
    • Debate on the most restrictive voting bill ever considered by Congress began this afternoon with a procedural inquiry, not a bang.

    • Democrats have promised to give the anti-voting bill “the death it deserves.”

    • President Donald Trump said he “WILL NEVER (EVER!) ENDORSE” any senator who votes against the SAVE America Act. He said only “sick, demented, or deranged” lawmakers would vote against it.

    • As the debate took off, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) falsely accused Democrats of allowing “more than 12 million illegal aliens to invade this country” to vote in elections. But noncitizen voting is illegal, and numerous studies show it’s exceptionally rare.

Trump threatened Colorado funding as ‘punishment’ over Tina Peters, judge finds

    • In a blow to the Trump administration, a federal judge blocked the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s threat to withhold millions in federal funding to Colorado’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

    • The judge ruled the move was unconstitutional, saying it was retaliation for the state's refusal to pardon election denier Tina Peters.

    • Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was asked to give one example of fraud in a previous election that the SAVE America Act would stop. He did not deliver.

    • Also, this GOP senator thinks ID is required to have a child. Uh.

    • You couldn't write this as fiction: A federal judge kicked a federal prosecutor out of court amid questions over who's in charge at the New Jersey U.S. attorney's office — which another judge had ruled was being led by an illegal triumvirate. Also in the story: Appears Trump's incompetent DOJ accepted an overly lenient plea agreement in a child pornography case.

    • James Boasberg, the chief district judge in Washington, D.C., has ordered that the judiciary be notified when a grand jury rejects a Trump administration indictment. Grand juries are famous for their reputed willingness to “indict a ham sandwich.” Boasberg’s order comes as DOJ indictments have recently fared worse than processed pork.
