This week, Trump made it clear that he’s coming for your vote. Worse, our largest institutions made it clear they wouldn’t stand in his way. 

Just hours after launching an attack against Iran, Trump suggested he did so in part because of claims that Iran had interfered with the 2020 and 2024 U.S. elections. On top of that, the Department of Justice abruptly reversed its own decision to dismiss its case against four law firms, reigniting its appeal just 24 hours later at the behest of Trump and Stephen Miller. 

In typical fashion, the legacy media outlets tasked with holding the government accountable are nowhere to be seen. And it looks like it will only get worse. Paramount, the Ellison-owned company that turned the Tiffany Network into the Trump Network, officially gained ownership of CNN through a merger with Warner Bros. 

That’s why independent media has stepped up to take the mantle. Today is Democracy Docket’s sixth birthday. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and the team we’ve built — together. Six years later, our mission has not changed. We’re tracking Trump’s every move, holding his feet to the fire when legacy media won’t. Here’s what you might have missed this week.
